The Premier League Youth Department are responsible for the delivery of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP), a long term development plan with the aim of; 1) developing More and Better Home Grown Players, capable of playing in the most competitive and compelling football competition in the world; and 2) ensuring positive development outcomes for all Academy Players, regardless of whether they become professionals or not.

Reporting to the Head of Education & Academy Player Care, the Academy Player Care Manager will work closely with the Club Education and Player Care staff, and Youth Department multidisciplinary teams (including Academy Support Managers), to ensure current and former Academy Players receive an outstanding Player Care service, that supports their ongoing academic, personal and football development, with a strong focus on their mental and emotional well-being. The Academy Player Care Manager will also work closely with the Head of Player Care and Engagement to ensure alignment across First Team and Academy Player Care provisions.

Where possible, you will attend the office or site visits in line with our company policy. All staff liaise closely with their line manager to manage their time appropriately and according to their work and team requirements.

The role

Manage the Premier League's Life Skills and Personal Development programme for Academy Players aged U9-U23, parents/host families and club staff - including the management of contracts, providers, new provider processes and quality assurance processes
Support the project management of Personal Development/Player Engagement opportunities for Academy Players at Academy Games Programme Events
Manage Player and Parent Voice initiatives to analyse, implement and share feedback accordingly
Coordinate the development of Parent education and engagement activity through the launch of the Parents Hub
Support the coordination of enhanced Academy Parent Engagement and feedback opportunities at Games Programme Events
Project manage the U16 Development Programme for released Academy Players – including player and parent follow up processes
Project manage the PDP Preparation Programme for released Academy Players in the U18-U23 age groups – including player and parent follow up processes
Support the wider Football Development team relationship for Academy Player Care with EFL, LFE, PFA and PGAAC
Manage the delivery of Player Care Regional Hubs to develop the Player Care workforce, in collaboration with the EFL, LFE and PFA
Work closely with internal departments for Academy Player Care related support – five step process, PLCF/Community initiatives, Mental Health Awareness Week, Youth Update etc
Work closely with the wider Education & Academy Player Care team and Data Manager to oversee destination (Alumni) tracking U16 & Scholars & U23s
Work closely with First Team Player Care to maintain the Premier League Player App for Academy Players in the PDP age groups (U17-U23)
To support and reinforce mental and emotional wellbeing services, resources, education, and signposting for all Academy players and staff
Line management responsibility for Education and Academy Player Care assistant and Player Care consultant
Manage the communication and support for Academy Player Care staff

Requirements For The Role

Previous experience working within a Player Care role either in an Academy or First Team environment
Experience working within an elite/developmental sports environment
Practical and theoretical understanding of Player Care demands in elite-level sports
Experience working with children and adults at risk and/or knowledge and understanding of issues that affect their safety and wellbeing High level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
Ability to produce high level reports and presentations
Excellent operational and project management skills
Budget management experience
Strong IT skills and excellent knowledge and understanding of social media platforms
Enhanced DBS
Current FA Safeguarding Children certification
