ROLE DESCRIPTION

Hull City are looking for an Academy Physiotherapist / Sports Therapist to work within their Academy at Bishop Burton College.
 
The successful candidate will be required to assist the Academy Lead Physiotherapist in the delivery and development of all medical/health, sports science and strength and conditioning matters relating to schoolboy program. You will be expected to maintain high professional standards of clinical practice within the Medical and Sports Science Departments.
 
We are looking for someone who can be fully flexible to support with the medical provision for games, trips, tours etc. which may include travel within and outside the UK, including overnight stays.
 
Position Type: Permanent, full time 37.5 hours per week
Location: Hull City Academy, Bishop Burton College, HU17 8QG
Salary: £25-30k per annum, dependent on experience
Closing Date: 11am, Friday 22nd March 2024.
 
Your key responsibilities
 
•                To assist the Academy Lead Physiotherapist in the delivery and development of all medical/health, sports science and strength and conditioning in predominately the Youth Development, Transition and Foundation Phase. It is expected that this delivery is through high professional standards of clinical practice within the Medical and Sports Science Departments.
•                To fulfil the role of Chartered Physiotherapist / Sports Therapist in the assessment, diagnosis and rehabilitation of primarily schoolboy age players but also PDP players, and to lead part time members of the department in their own professional development.
•                To assist in the delivery of on-field pitch-based rehabilitation sessions as requested.
•                Effectively contribute to line management of casual academy medical staff to ensure adequate medical provision is in place for all U9s-U16s activity.
•                Communicate with casual academy medical staff to ensure continuity of care of academy players (U9s-U16s).
•                To actively be involved in an interdisciplinary approach of working within the department that includes close links to all areas of the Club.
•                To create relationships with players, parents, and coaches to support health and wellbeing, injury prevention and rehabilitation needs, whilst maintaining a professional distance from playing staff, acting in a manner appropriate and representative of the Club at all times
•                To assist, as required, the Academy Head of Physical Performance, Sports Scientists / Strength and Conditioning personnel and extended medical and sports science personnel in the completion and security of all medical insurance documentation and screening (cardiac, orthopedic, and podiatry) related to YDP players.
•                Deliver and design, in conjunction with the other members of the medical and science department, daily pre-activation and injury risk reduction strategies.
•                In conjunction with other support staff, contribute in meetings about performance enhancement and injury risk reduction strategies.
•                To be responsible for providing emergency aid cover for Academy training sessions accompanying teams on match days as required.
•                Maintain detailed records for all activities in the department in line with relevant legislation, policies and procedures, and contribute to the security of medical records for Academy players ensuring complete medical confidentiality within scope of practice at all times.
•                To assist in the implementation of the department injury prevention protocols through assessment, analysis, delivery and auditing of collected data.
•                To actively be involved in an interdisciplinary approach of working within the department that includes close links to all areas of the Club
•                To maintain detailed records for all activities in the department in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures and to comply with the Core Standards of Chartered Physiotherapists / Sports Therapy practice
•                To work in close conjunction with the Academy Head of Sports Science and Medicine to ensure all requirements of a Club’s EPPP audit process that are relevant to this role are carried out at the appropriate time.
•                To assist other members of the Academy medical team to organise and deliver medical/health education programmes for training of PDP and YDP staff and players
•                If requested you may be required to provide emergency aid cover for both training sessions or games for any squad.
 
What are we looking for?
 
•           The successful candidate must hold a degree in a relevant field (e.g. Physiotherapy, Sports Rehabilitation, Sports Therapy etc.) – Essential.
•       Previous experience within a sporting environment would be preferred.
•           We are looking for a candidate who can be fully flexible to suit the requirements of the Academy
•       ITMMiF (as a minimum), accreditation, or equivalent, or the ability to complete this at the earliest opportunity. Essential.
•       Excellent interpersonal skills, who can effectively communicate with staff, players, parents and external providers.
•       Focused on individual player development within a team process
•       Ability to create relationships with players and identify support network to effectively support injury rehabilitation and performance needs.
•           The safeguarding and welfare of our players is paramount and as such this position is subject to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
