Role description

Sheffield United FC Academy are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable coach to join our team. The successful candidate, as part of the academy performance team will be responsible for creating and delivering an elite physical development programme. Additionally, the post holder will be responsible for managing the delivery of the foundation phase physical development programme; and key deliverer of the physical development programmes to youth phase age groups; assist with the delivery of the professional development phase performance programme as required.

Role Responsibilities:

Work with the HoEP and Lead Physical Performance Coach to construct an integrated physical development programme that is age groups specific i.e. U8 – U16.
This will cover all aspects of physical development including maturation, strength, stability, mobility, speed / agility, nutrition and sports psychology.
Assist in the implementation of an integrated physical development-coaching programme for U8 – U16.
Assist in the development of an in-service programme for relevant elements of physical development education to all parents/ guardians of Academy players.
Lead the scheduling and delivery of physiological and anthropological measures and tests for all foundation and youth age groups.
Accountable for ensuring that Data is recorded and stored with regular reports produced in accordance with the requirements of the Academy Manager and the Head of Coaching.
Assist in the design and implementation of Personal Improvement Plans for all Academy players U8 – U16.
Expected to conduct and assist the HoEP with specific physical development research as required.
Assist in the management of an integrated sport sciences intern programme.
Assist the Academy physiotherapists with rehabilitation of injured players as directed by the HoEP.
May from time to time be called upon to attend and assist, as required, at residential coaching sessions and youth tournaments.
May occasionally be required to undertake miscellaneous administrative tasks relating to the Club’s Academy activities.
Project a proper and professional image of Sheffield United Football Club and act in the best interests of the Club at all times.
Ensure completion of any mandatory training required for the role, including internal club training around Safeguarding  and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
To adhere to all Sheffield United Football Club’s Safeguarding Policies and Procedures to foster an environment which protects from harm those defined as children and adults at risk.
To report any concerns of a Safeguarding nature to the relevant parties and remain fully compliant with any applicable Safeguarding checks and due diligence and recognise your responsibility to the Club’s Safeguarding agenda.
To report any concerns of discrimination to the relevant parties and promote a welcoming and inclusive club environment for all.
To adhere to the Club’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policies, supporting the Club to create an environment which is inclusive and all-encompassing.

Essential Criteria for the role:

BSc or MSc Sports Science or equivalent experience of coaching young players.
Experience in Youth Development.
Experience of working within an Academy or a professional sport setting.
FA First Aid (Level 2 Emergency First Aid in Football).
FA Safeguarding Children Workshop.
Organisational skills.
This role requires a criminal record check through the Disclosure and Barring service.

Desirable Criteria for the role:

UEFA B Licence.
BASES Accredited / working towards accreditation.
UKSCA or CSCS Accredited / working toward accreditation.
