About the job
The Role

We are looking for an Academy Performance Psychologist to play a key role in the coordination and delivery of our performance psychology provision across all age groups (U9-U21). The psychology service will reflect and support the strategic direction of the Academy by optimising players’ champion mentality.

The role is to help develop the requisite psychological capacities to achieve high performance. You will be imbedded within an interdisciplinary team and expected to collaboratively work with multiple colleagues to optimise players’ potential.

Your day-to-day

Directly contribute to the development of STRONG YOUNG GUNNERS by providing:
Individual and group-based psychology support for academy and loan players
Player profiles and individual development plans
Education to players, staff and parents
Psychological injury monitoring and psychological return to play
Mental health and wellbeing screening for Academy players
Communicate and contribute towards the Wellbeing in Performance group
Help develop an environment and culture that embraces both challenge and care
Work directly with coaches to design training practices that develop players’ champion mentality
Collaborate with the medical department to identify, support and refer (where appropriate) player and staff mental health concerns
Integrate and collaborate with all stakeholders to provide the appropriate psychological support
Contribute to the design, execution and sharing of research & development
Maintain our Child Protection, Health, Safety and Equal Opportunity procedures
Adhere to a strict code of confidentiality in respect of any information relating to our club and its operation

What We Are Looking For

British Psychological Society Chartered Status or BASES Accredited (or equivalent)
Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Sport and Exercise psychologist
Proven background in providing psychology-related services in high-level sport
Experience providing psychology-related services in a football academy setting
Excellent interpersonal skills, especially with sports coaches
Experience of successfully working within a diverse a performance support team
A true team player that's able to integrate and collaborate with ease
Able to demonstrate high levels of humility, discipline and respect
Ability to communicate complex information in a simple and relevant way
Proactive and versatile in approach to achieving successful outcomes
