To contribute to this ambition, the Elite Performance team is looking to recruit a Lead physical performance coach who can optimise the STRENGTH development of our academy players. The role is fundamental to the departments over-arching objective to develop players who have the physical capabilities to run quicker, more often and more effectively.
The successful candidate will inspire players who are willing to go outside their comfort zones and be able to alter mindsets, build self-identity and get the absolute best out of each player.
Role ResponsibilitiesThe major responsibilities will include:
Lead and be accountable for the delivery of gym-based strength development sessions across the Pro-development phase squads
Ensure strength development sessions are specific to individual player needs and focus on the progression of force expression capabilities appropriate to their level of physical maturation and performance requirements.
Apply your knowledge and experience to assess the neuromuscular capabilities and readiness of the PDP squads, utilising various methods of force profiling.
Deliver individual player strength development sessions
Provide performance support to either the U18 or U23 squads on matchdays.
Implement and supervise the strength development program for the youth phase academy players, supporting the academy performance coach as necessary.
Work closely with the medical, data science, match analysis and coaching departments to provide interdisciplinary performance solutions.
Lead on recovery initiatives and support the academy nutritionist to implement impactful nutritional strategies.
Drive players to achieve an elite level of athletic performance
Adhere to all Sheffield United Football Club's Safeguarding Policies and Procedures to foster an environment which protects from harm those defined as children and adults at risk.

Essential Criteria for the role:
Experience of optimising the STRENGTH capabilities of elite players / athletes, demonstrating an exceptional ability to create engagement within conditioning sessions to drive development.
MSc in Sport Science / Strength and Conditioning or an associated area and UKSCA Accreditation.
