About this role:

To provide excellent physiotherapy services to Crystal Palace FC Academy players, through delivering care which is individualised, player-centred and demonstrating outstanding attention to detail.
Lead Physiotherapist in the department, responsible (alongside the Academy Doctor) for co-ordinating, organising and leading all staff within the medical team to deliver an outstanding level of care.


Responsibilities:

Leadership and Communication

Lead on the provision of excellent physiotherapy services to CPFC Academy players (U9s to 21s).
Have overall responsibility, alongside the Academy Doctor, for the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of CPFC Academy players.
Lead on the development and refinement of medical processes to maintain best-practice.
Oversee the development of CPFC Academy rehabilitation principles, which align with broader CPFC practices.
Provide mentorship and clinical support to other medical team members.
Inspire Academy player performance through positive connection and role-model behaviours.
Collaborate positively across CPFC to share best practice, especially with respect to medical care.


Clinical

Providing an excellent standard of assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to CPFC Academy players.
To contribute to injury prevention efforts by liaising closely with the interdisciplinary team on individual player planning, load management and suitable programming (including gym, pre-activation exercises).
Accompanying players to medical appointments as required.
To attend Academy fixtures as required, providing run-on physiotherapy cover (when the usual age-group therapist is not available).


Administration

To promote the highest standards of clinical governance in professional football, including (but not limited to): maintaining contemporaneous medical records on the KitmanLabs system as required and in line with professional body regulations, participating in After-Action Reviews for all significant events, and updating medical processes in line with evidence-based practice.
Attend and contribute positively to daily medical meetings and weekly interdisciplinary meetings.
To ensure physiotherapy equipment and supplies are maintained, stored and replenished to a high standard.
To facilitate and participate in a programme of Continuing Professional Development specific to the needs of Academy medical staff.
To oversee the development of monthly availability reports, and annual injury audits.
To schedule / rota the physiotherapy coverage across the Academy (including part-time / casual staff).
To perform other duties as required helping the performance of CPFC Academy.
Other duties and responsibilities as required by line manager.
Upholding and promoting the Club’s policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.


Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

BSc / MSc Physiotherapy
HCPC and CSP registration
A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in professional sport, with a particular emphasis on football experience.
Experience within a medical leadership role in professional football.
Postgraduate qualifications in Sports Medicine / Strength & Conditioning / Sport Science (MSc/PhD) – or working towards.
Up-to-date ATMMIF qualification
Significant experience of planning and delivering gym-based rehabilitation strategies
Significant experience of using clinical and pitch-based objective measures to inform clinical decision making in rehabilitation
FA Safeguarding qualifications
Knowledgeable of current sports injury research
Knowledgeable in the assessment, treatment and diagnosis of sports injuries, especially with respect to Academy footballers.
Comprehensive knowledge of rehabilitation and injury prevention strategies
Caring, positive and enthusiastic nature with players and staff
Decisive – able to make decisions based on sound reasoning and communicating them clearly and appropriately with players and staff
Flexible, especially in terms of the hours that will be necessary – as weekend and evening work will be required depending on the service needs.
