Role description

This is an exciting time at Newcastle United and we are looking for a talented individual to help us develop our next generation of goalkeeping talent. As such, we are looking for an experienced and innovative Academy Goalkeeping Coach to plan, organise, deliver, and review the coaching programme for the Foundation and U12-14 element of the Youth Development Phase Goalkeepers.

Working closely with our Head of Goalkeeping you will support the implementation of the Academy playing philosophy, ensuring the Club’s principles and style of play are adhered by defining, developing, implementing, and reviewing an elite level Goalkeeping coaching curriculum, that is age appropriate.

Joining our passionate Academy family, you will be an engaging and forward-thinking goalkeeping coach with a strong commitment to youth development, promoting best practice in the delivery of the coaching programme across the FP and Foundation age groups.

On a day-to-day basis you will work closely with the U15-18 Lead GK Coach and Head of Coach Development, to assist in creating a bespoke GK CPD programme, develop a mentoring programme to assist in the personal and professional development of all academy goalkeeping staff.

Significant experience of working with young goalkeepers and coaches within the professional game with inspirational mentoring and leadership skills is essential, as are excellent communication and listening skills to bring out the best in young players.

You will bring a collaborative approach working with multidisciplinary performance staff to ensure that all relevant data, particularly coaching time, game time and player reviews, is recorded on the Club’s chosen performance management application and easily accessible when required as stipulated in the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) regulations.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone holding the UEFA B Licence Goalkeeping and Coaching Awards, level A in both would be highly desirable as would FA Advanced Youth Award.

It is also essential to hold FA Youth Modules 1, 2 & 3 and FA Safeguarding Certificate, FA Basic First Aid for Sport and hold professional membership of the FA Licensed Coaches Club.

As such, experience of working with young goalkeepers in the professional game is essential and previous experience of coaching goalkeepers within the foundation phase and youth development phase of a professional club would be highly desirable.
