ROLE DESCRIPTION

Job purpose:

To lead on the individual, group, and team planning of the football pathway within the U11 & U12 Cell. Ensuring each player has an up-to-date and relevant individual development plan. Support the Lead FDP in leading the phase.

Responsible for:

U11 & U12 lead and assistant coaches

Key Relationships:

Internal – Academy Players/parents, Academy Manager, Head of Coaching, Lead Analyst, Lead Academy Coaching Staff, Part Time Coaching Staff, Medical staff, Lead S&C Coach, Head of Recruitment, and Head of Operations.

External – Opposition Club Coaches, Parents, Regulatory Bodies (EFL, The FA, PFA, LFE)

Key Responsibilities:

Lead U12 age group on match and training days.
To plan, create, and evaluate coaching sessions as scheduled in the weekly plan. To review SCFC core sessions with colleagues and update accordingly.
To plan and deliver training sessions that prioritise an individual player development focus within SCFC core sessions.
To independently source and review video clips of individuals and groups with reference to player’s individual learning objectives in liaison with the analysis department.
Provide a health check / update on coaching cell operations in each 9/18/27/36/45-week coaching meeting.
Provide impactful feedback to players to support progression.
Manage the trialist’s who enter the coaching cell providing suitable evaluation and feedback during the signing / exit policy.
Ensure the Performance Management Application (PMA) is completed and up to date.
Liaise with parents of players to create a collaborative approach.
Ensure the retention of players is always prioritised within planning.
Deliver consistent up to date communication with the Academy Manager and Head of Coaching surrounding the journey of the players.
Align coaches and the coaching programme to the club’s coaching and playing philosophy.
Oversee the team planning and theming per mesocycle.
Connect and collaborate with Youth Phase staff surrounding training support and team selections.
Connect with Youth Phase staff surrounding training support and team composition.
Observe and prioritise individual player development within training and fixtures.
Support Youth Phase coaches with all aspects of the role, including coaching delivery to enhance best practice.
Monitor and evaluation of all players in the Youth Phase for succession planning process.
Identify areas for development and work closely with the Academy Senior Management Team and Multi-Disciplinary teams to ensure necessary performance standards are met and developed.
Monitor and drive the key development processes within the Youth Development Phase to ensure progression is being made.

General Responsibilities:

Ensure you work towards your own Development Action Plan assigned to you by the Head of Coaching in line with the coach competency framework (CCF).
Flexibility to work in this role is essential – evenings and weekend work required.
Annual leave to be taken as agreed with the Head of Coaching
Attend all County insights and research events as instructed by Head of Coaching
Contribute to parents’ evenings and other phases where required.
Participate in all relevant meetings.
Display high standards of performance as outlined in SCFC staff code of conduct.
Contribute towards a positive working environment.
Provide genuine care for players within the Academy and offer a safe environment where players can succeed.
Undertake other duties as directed by the Academy Manager or technical board if asked to do so.

About The Candidate

Skills Required:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to use a variety of communication tools (verbal, written, digital)
Strong organisational and administrative skills
IT skills to include the ability to use performance analysis software and Microsoft office

Knowledge & Qualifications Required:

Essential

First aid qualified (EFAIF level 2)
UEFA B License
Advanced Youth Award
FA Safeguarding & Child Protection
Coaching methodology

Desirable

FA Licenced Tutor
UEFA A- License
Sports Coaching/Science or Sports Management Degree
Education / pedograph

Experience Required:

Working in an elite sporting environment and understanding how elite footballers are developed.
Leading and managing people
Experience working across academy age groups.
Understanding of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP)
Experience of scouting & talent identification processes and procedures
IT skills to include the ability to use Performance.
Management Application (PMA) software and Microsoft
Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
