An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sports Scientist to join the Club.   Reporting to the Head of Sports Science and working within a multi-disciplinary team, the role is expected to create and contribute to a high-performance environment in delivering the athletic development of Academy Players (9-16’s).   KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Through a player-centred approach, create short and long term athletic development plans to enhance athleticism tailored to improve football physical      performance and reduce injury incidenceComplete regular physical testing to update individual athletic profiles, programmes and evaluate programme efficaciesDesign, deliver and evaluate group and individual pitch and non-pitch sessions for the Academy teams tailored to improve all aspects of physical developmentManage the monitoring of internal and external training loads through collection, analysis and dissemination of information to aid in the planning and periodisation of trainingWork in alignment with the medical team to create efficient and effective return to play strategiesWork in collaboration with the coaching department to create motivating and enjoyable environments to enhance athletic development within all sessionsDevelop strong relationships with Academy Manager and staff to adopt practices where applicable to enable continuity of practice and environmentContribute to monthly departmental CPD  GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Follow club policies and procedures to ensure safe guarding of all players within the academy structureCompliance with club policies and health and safety proceduresUndertake other such duties as may be reasonably expectedMaintain a professional conduct at all times and act as an example to players they will work with  PERSON SPECIFICATION An elite mind-set and attitude to high performanceBeing adaptable and flexible as a practitioner who can work with others alongside being an excellent problem solverAn organised and energetic personality with a passion for talent development and footballAble to take wide streams of data and synthesize insight appropriatelyAbility to work with and alongside different members of staff in various departmentsAbility to reflect on working practices and change when new knowledge is evidentConstant desire to improve and develop themselves and others around themExcellent communication skills to engage/motive players to develop athleticism and lifestyle into adulthoodExcellent Excel and PowerPoint literacy skillsAn individual who displays self-awareness and the skills to interact effectivelyPositive and enthusiastic attitude to an ever-changing, fast and dynamic environment ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS: Experience          EssentialExperience of working in football and a team environmentPrevious experience of working within an elite environmentWorking within a multi-disciplinary teamExperience of working in a busy/pressured environment           DesirablePrevious experience of Project Brave Qualifications and affiliations          EssentialMSc Degree in Sport Sciences/Strength & ConditioningAccredited/Certified strength and conditioning coach e.g. UKSCA, CSCS, EXOS          DesirableA minimum 2-3 years previous experience working within an elite performance environmentExperience 2-3 years  leading or  assisting the delivery of the Sports Science programUefa B coaching qualification or above.ISAK Accreditation Other          Essential Full UK driving licenseAble to be flexible with their working week to cope with demands of evening and weekend work
